charming place
Santiago Tuxtla, Veracruz. Mexico, is located in Southeast Mexico, two hours from the Port of Veracruz. It was a place of settlement of the Olmec mother culture. There is a colossal Olmec Head in its central park, the largest of the culture, which weighs 52 tons. Santiago has a museum that contains a myriad of sculptures, figures, and other articles of Olmec culture which were the forerunners of this wonderful civilization. The food in Santiago Tuxtla spans a wide variety of tastes, like the state of Veracruz. Their homemade cakes are good. Santiago is a land of livestock and agriculture. It has a temperate climate, hot and humid.
Their traditional holidays include the Procession of Silence, The Liceres, and its Fair, which features the CharrerĂa Huapango, or State Contest, (very beautiful and famous). On Christmas night, there are lanterns in all neighborhoods, as well as cakes, donuts with molasses, statues of God hauling children. These run between December 24-31st. Santiago is a charming place, respectful and friendly to tourism, both national and international.
