Santacara Castle

Situado a unos 60 kilómetros de Pamplona, y 10 de Olite, Santacara es un pequeño pueblo con alrededor de 1.000 habitantes, donde se han encontrado numerosos hallazgos arqueológicos. Resulta curioso desde la lejanía ver La Torre, única parte de lo que fue un castillo que hoy en día es el orgullo de sus habitantes. La Torre de Santacara, observa gran parte del valle de Aragón y está situada en un lugar estratégico desde donde se podía divisar el castillo de Mélida, Rada, la iglesia-fortaleza de Caparroso, la iglesia-fortaleza de Ujué... En el año 2010 comenzaron las obras de restauración de la torre así como el acondicionamiento de la zona con unas escaleras de acceso. Queda pendiente la iluminación de la torre, a ver si no tardan mucho. En el 2012 fue incluido por el Departamento de Cultura y Turismo de Gobierno de Navarra en la Ruta de los Castillos y Fortalezas de Navarra, donde se podían realizar visitas guiadas gratuitas a los lugares más emblemáticos de Navarra. En la cercanía las ruinas de la ciudad romana de Cara. En Mélida hay un bonito mirador desde donde se puede divisar Santacara.
