Santa Maria dei Carmini Church

Santa Maria del Carmelo (or Carmini) church is in the Dorsoduro district and was built in the fourteenth century - but has been altered since. Its most notable feature is an elegant campanile, whose inclination was rectified in 1688. The interior is very bleak but carefully decorated, the nave arches are decorated with wooden statues and a series of paintings illustrating Carmelite order history. There are 2 interesting paintings in the side altars, one of Conegliano and another of Lorenzo Lotto. Beside him stands the big school of "Carmini" where Tiepolo decorated the entire ceiling of the room
