Cute crafts market

Santa Cruz del Quiche, which also Quiche is said, is the capital of Quiché region, whose most famous city for visitors is Chichicastenango, with its cute crafts market. If you go on the same road, you will reach Quiché, Guatemala, home of the Mayans. The costumes are gorgeous, in villages where women barely speak Spanish, it's amazing living in community, sharing what little they have among the inhabitants. Quiche is 4 or 5 hours from Guatemala City. Quiché buses are notorious for being very fast and a little dangerous. It is a region where evangelical churches are rather dubious and people are poor and without much education, listen to the preacher and the parishioners end up donating the little money they have, it's pretty sad.

The preacher yells into a megaphone and people are mesmerized. If you have the chance, go for a walk in the mountains around Quiché, it's magnificent, and you can sleep easily in communities that are beginning to have sustainable tourism.
