Sânpaul
Sanpaul is a village in the region of the Szeklers. The majority of the population speaks a Hungarian dialect, which has not changed much for hundreds of years due to the location of people, isolated between the Carpathian Mountains. Here, they have mined salt since Roman times. In the past, twice a week, every inhabitant of the village received a ration of salt for their own use and that of their livestock. The salt was used to preserve meat in winter, as well as for trading to get the products that were needed in Sanpaul. They also made artificial lakes in the area to produce more suitable land for cattle breeding.
