San Luis Falls and the Cloud Forest
In Monteverde my Nicaraguan friend Erick was waiting for me, he works as a chef at the best restaurant called The Tree House. He showed me the rarely-visited San Luis waterfall, where I got to see the more genuine plants and animals, such as Ficus, orchids, hummingbirds, racoons, birds of paradise flowers, etc. In the afternoon I went to a butterfly garden, an Orchid garden and even an amphibian garden. At night in the forest there's still a lot of activity like guided tours of the forest. It was a great experience for me to see the animals at night. The skies here are usually clear and the ride alternates with a spectacular planetarium.
There are a number of conservation and research institutions at work here. To name just a few, there's the National Geographic Society, and a Swedish home that caught my attention called The Children's Eternal Rainforest. The next day we visited the rainforest and it was cloudy and rainy in there as you might expect. It is the quintessential tropical forest. People drive through its towering iron bridges that let travelers see the canopy trees. They have guided tours also. Each tree in this forest contains more life forms than any single forest you can find in Europe. It's undoubtedly a wonder of the world you can't miss. You can even play sports.
