Palazzo di San Giorgio

Avrà pur perso un po' di tono questo palazzo, ma rimane forse il più antico di Genova e nonostante l'età (è del 1260) ha ricevuto dei restauri degli di nota che lo hanno fatto tornare al suo antico splendore rinfrescando gli affreschi originali. La struttura medioevale fu ampliata nel 1571 e la facciata che si affaccia sul mare divenne manifesto della città per tutti quelli che attraccavano le loro barche in porto. La facciata decorata si deve ad Andrea Semino (1525-1594) che la terminò nel 1590.

Era infatti sede di importanti attività commerciali. L’edificio è datato 1260 ed è stato il primo palazzo pubblico di Genova. All’interno una zona venne dedicata per lunghi periodi alle carceri., dove tra gli altri venne detenuto il Rustichello. Le decorazioni più evidenti nella facciata sono del 1900 e sono state assegnate al Pogliaghi. Oggi è sede delle autorità portuali.
