10 reviews of Fuerte de San Felipe

Magnificent views

If you go to Lisbon, you can't miss a day-trip to Setubal. Setubal is a fishing village where, in addition to buying fish at the market, you can taste it later in one of the local restaurants. On the outskirts of Setubal, there's the Castle of San Felipe, a stone fortress from which you have magnificent views of Setubal, the Serra da Rabida, the Troia Peninsula, and the delta of the Sado River. The views from the wall are impressive, and the top of the castle offers a great panorama. You feel small being surrounded by so much nature. The San Felipe Castle was built in the 16th century by Philip II of Spain (later Philip I of Portugal), ve hired the Italian architect Filipo Terzi, a specialist in military construction.
