San Cristobal de las Casas

San Cristobal de las Casas was founded in 1528 by Diego de Mazariegos and was one of the first colonial cities founded by the Spanish in America. It's called Magic Town (these are typical villages of Mexico so named by the Ministry of Tourism of Mexico and which preserves its rich culture and history) but in reality, is a large enough to be considered a city.

It was once known as the most important town in the region, and had the second Villa Real de Chiapa, one of the most beautiful sights of the country. Its name honors the bishop Fray Bartolome de las Casas, defender of the local natives of the place during the sixteenth century and the inspiration for the Christian faith in the New World. The city has many temples and churches of amazing beauty, and the San Cristobal Cathedral which was originally built in 1535.

Beautiful traditional place that smells like coffee. There are many foreigners but all with the same, you´re at home! Many stores with special designs like in a hippie style, traditional, chic, cold but rich, I felt like I was in a Colombian restaurant. Enjoy this place.
