1 review of San Bartolomé Church

This church, part of the pilgrimage...

This church, part of the pilgrimage route is located directly opposite the Roman museum, and next to the convent of the Redemptorists. It was built in the eleventh century, although this time there is nothing left because of the many transformations undergone: The tower is the twelfth century, the cover of the XIV and XVI cruise. It is built in stone and has a somewhat rare outside shape, being the tower located slightly off center. The real treasure is its interior, with its domes entirely decorated with plasterwork. The main altar is churrigueresco, which are represented the titular saint (San Bartolome) accompanied by San Jose, San Juan Bautista and Christ crucified. Other sculptures are an Ecce Homo noted, the Virgin of the Rosary and Our Lady of Sorrows, for this church is the headquarters of the Brotherhood of the Knights. In this square are also the Domus Romana Square with its Mosaic, San Francisco church and the chapel of Vera Cruz.
