Day 9 and 10 Samdo
After breakfast one of our party returned to Katmandu by helicopter as he was suffering from a serious infection. Once the helicopter had left we set off up a wide valley once again following the Budhi Gandaki river to Samdo (3875m). We arrived in time for lunch. The lodge was very basic but the potatoes, cheese and Himalayan bread were very tasty.
In the afternoon we climbed up to the lateral moraine of the retreating Sonam glacier. The village is only a days walk from the Tibetan border and Larkya bazar above the village was once a busy trading spot.
Day 10 was another acclimatization day so we climbed up to the pray flags on the slope above the village.
