Cold beer and unbeatable views
Samaya Tranz is a cheap hotel and beach bar located on the shores of Unawatuna Beach, a beautiful beach popular with foreign, especially Russian, tourists not far from the beautiful colonial town of Galle. There are tons of beach bars to choose from on Unawatuna, but we chose Samaya Tranz as it was uncrowded and had lovely tables set up with views of the water.
Like most beach bars, their menu tries to appeal to everyone and ranges from burgers and pizza to Italian food to Indian food. We didn’t try it and, honestly, I wouldn’t recommend you do either. You’re in Sri Lanka, home of rice and curry, roti, and hoppers…Italian food is the last thing you need! Still, it’s a nice place to grab a few pints of cold and reasonably-priced Lion beer while looking out over the water.
