Salto do Prego

“Salto do Prego” es una cascada que se encuentra en Faial da Terra (en el extremo sureste de la isla de Sao Miguel, en Azores). Para llegar, hay que caminar por un sendero que se inicia en esta localidad. No tiene pérdida. Al llegar a Faial da Terra veréis enseguida las indicaciones al inicio del sendero, al lado de un arroyo. Durante todo el camino se va escuchando el relajante sonido del agua, en un entorno natural sencillamente maravilloso, de diez. Hay que caminar entre 6,4 km y 6,2 km, dependiendo de si optáis por regresar para la vuelta por el mismo camino de ida (6,4 km) o si regresáis por otro camino, que conecta con el anterior, y que pasa por una antigua aldea llamada Sanguinho (6,2 km). Al ser prácticamente la misma distancia, y para conocer la ruta circular completa, nosotros volvimos por el sendero que atraviesa esta aldea,y creo que fue un acierto. En el Hotel donde nos alojábamos nos habían desaconsejado hacer esta excursión, porque al ir con un niño de 7 años, consideraban que probablemente terminaría agotado. Pero la verdad es que el chaval hizo el camino perfectamente, aunque también influyó que hicimos varias paradas (que nos permitían descansar y disfrutar al máximo de este paisaje). No os aburriré con descripciones, porque mis conocimientos de botánica son muy escasos. Sólo decir que veréis todas las tonalidades y matices imaginables del verde, el color por el que merecidamente se conoce a esta isla. La cascada impresiona, y aunque no te atrevas a darte un baño, sales de allí bien refrescado gracias a las diminutas gotas de agua que rebotan al caer, y que salpican todo el espacio. Uno de mis hijos mayores no se lo pensó dos veces y se metió en la poza, de agua cristalina pero muy muy helada. Un valiente. En la aldea semi-abandonada de Sanguinho conviven casas destruidas e invadidas por la vegetación, con preciosas viviendas que están siendo rehabilitadas con mucho gusto, y que nos acercan, imaginariamente claro, a lo que tuvo que ser esta aldea unos 50 años atrás, cuando fue abandonada. Finalmente, desde Sanguinho se desciende bruscamente por un camino adoquinado, desde el que se observa, muy abajo, Faial do Terra, rodeada de montañas, y con el océano a su espalda. Nos gustó todo pero coincido con mi hija mayor, para quien siendo bonita la cascada, el camino le pareció todavía mejor… nos gustó tocar las rocas cubiertas de musgo, sentir la humedad del bosque de laurisilva, su densa vegetación, la pureza del aire, los acantilados….. Así que si vais, no hagáis con prisas el camino, ya que es una experiencia que merece la pena.

Salto do Prego is a waterfall located in Faial da Terra (at the southeast end of the island of Sao Miguel, Azores). To get there, you walk down a path that starts in this location. It has no loss. Do not bore you with descriptions, because my knowledge of botany are very scarce. Veris only say that all imaginable hues and shades of green, the color for which deservedly known to this island. The waterfall is impressive, and although you do not dare to give you a bath salts, all well refreshed thanks to the tiny water droplets bouncing falling and splashing all space. One of my older children would not thought twice and got into the pool, crystal clear water but very very cold. A brave. In the semi-abandoned village of Sanguinho coexist destroyed houses and overgrown with vegetation, with beautiful homes who are being rehabilitated with taste, and bring us, imaginatively clear what had to be this village about 50 years ATRS, when It was abandoned. Finally, from Sanguinho it drops sharply by a paved road, from which it is observed, far below, do Faial Terra, surrounded by mountains, and the ocean behind her. We gust all but I agree with my oldest daughter, for whom being beautiful waterfall, the way he seemed still best we gust touch the mossy rocks, feel the humidity of laurel forest, its vegetation dense, the purity of the air, cliffs .. So if you go, do not hurry hagis the way, as it is an experience worth.

Hay que hacer una pequeña caminata para acceder a este lugar, pero merece la pena el esfuerzo.
