Saint Martin of Tours Church

The Catholic Church of Philipsburg is on Front Street, a gateway is in a side wall, perpendicular to Great Bay beach. In front of it there is a monument depicting the apparition of the Virgin at La Salette. The church is rectangular with 3 interior naves and a bell tower. It is a simple building and the inside is not big and doesn't have flashy altarpieces, the main altar is dominated by the size of a crucifix and on the perimeter there are various small scenes representing the Virgin and some saints. The early church was begun in 1844 and was extended several times. The present church was opened in 1952.
