Saint Eloi Church

Dans la rue Clémenceau, face au Beffroi se dresse l'église Saint Eloi, la paroisse principale de la ville de Dunkerque. Le Beffroi et elle était lié jusqu'en 1782, ce qui explique que le carillon et les 50 cloches de l'église se trouvent dans ce dernier. L'église fut construite à partir de 1450, détruite, et reconstruite à plusieurs reprises jusqu'à former celle d'aujourd'hui. L'église St Eloi abrite les restes de Jean Bart . En 1928 , le Dr Lemaire a entrepris des fouilles et a découvert les restes dans l'église qui après identification furent enfermés dans un nouveau cercueil .

In Clemenceau Street, opposite the Belfry stands the church of St. Eloi, the main church of the city of Dunkirk. The Belfry and was linked until 1782, which explains why the chimes and 50 bells of the church are in the latter. The church was built from 1450, destroyed and rebuilt many times to form the present. The church of St Eloi houses the remains of Jean Bart. In 1928, Dr. Lemaire has undertaken excavations and discovered the remains in the church after identification were locked in a new coffin.
