Roman Catholic Church
The Roman Catholic Church of St Andrew dates back to 1939, when it was built on the ruins of a church dating back to 1842. Because this part of the city was populated largely by members of the press, mass was celebrated at 2:30am so that newspaper workers could attend. The pediment is engraved with a phrase in Latin: "Blessed are those who walk in the law of the Lord." The building is located next to the Manhattan Municipal Building.
