Sabores de Montaraz

At the top of the village, outside of the walled area, rises this special place, which is next to a hotel, with views of Alqueva and surrounding areas. The site has a homely feel that I love. At first we were unsure, as there were not many people in the place, but were soon blown away by the food.. Rarely have I eaten better in a place. The food was delicious and varied, and it still makes my mouth water now when I think about it...

The entrace was locked at 1pm. although there were some people eating inside. When finally a lady came to unlock the door she asked me rudely in Portuguese if I had a reservation, and since I didn’t have any, she slammed the door on my face and locked up again.

No matter how good the food might be, such places deserve to close down
