The road between Siena and Florence
The highway 222, better known as Chiantigiana, is a secondary road that connects Siena to Florence. The road is 61 km long and runs through some characteristic landscapes of the Tuscan countryside. To the south, in the hills of Siena, the dominant colour is yellow. But as you move closer to Florence, the scenery becomes more lush, and there are plenty of vineyards where the famous local wine is produced, and you can buy a bottle at one of the wineries along the way. If you're not in a hurry, it's a great road to take, the road less traveled, and the most scenic way to get between the two cities.
