Ruins of the Convent of Poor Clares

Seguendo la stradina che lascia la famosa chiesa bizantina di Stilo, La Cattolica, e svoltando subito dopo a sinistra (a destra si raggiungerebbe la casa di Tommaso Campanella), si arriva in pochi minuti a ciò che resta del vecchio convento delle clarisse, che un tempo fu uno degli edifici più importanti del paese. Oggi non resta molto da vedere ma è interessante capire come si svolgeva la vita all'interno di queste mura risalenti al XVI secolo. Le novizie e le veterane vivevano in piccole cellette, pregavano e si incontravano con le altre sorelle in refettorio o a Messa, trascorrevano una vita isolata da tutti, una vita contemplativa. Ancora oggi esistono oltre 500 conventi di clarisse.

Following the road that leaves the famous Byzantine church of Stilo, The Catholic, and turn immediately left (to the right you reach the home of Tommaso Campanella), you arrive in a few minutes what remains of the old convent of the Poor Clares, a time was one of the most important buildings in the country.
