Porta Rudiae is one of many gateways to Lecce, dating back to the eighteenth century. It has undergone several restorations over the years, but maintains its original charm. In the late seventeenth century, the door broke, but it was carefully rebuilt in 1703 by the patrician of Lecce, Prospero Rubelli. Four huge busts can be seeen here, with inscriptions explaining who the figures are.
