Hiking to Pico de Aguila
There’s nothing better to disconnect than hiking in the mountains. The town of Orihuela (Alicante) has varied and abundant natural spaces which offer visitors the chance to get to know the environmental, as well as cultural, offering in the region via its hiking trails and cycling routes.
On this occasion, we went up to Pico de Águila. Even in the middle of September it was like being in August. Luckily, we started the hike pretty early and didn’t get too worn out by the heat. As we say in Spanish, “a quien madruga Dios le ayuda," (“God helps those who get up early”).
We enjoyed beautiful views. During our ascent, we could hear the sounds of the town festival being held in nearby Aparecida in honor of the patron saint, Our Lady of Belén. We joked that they were welcoming us! We also enjoyed the descent and the chance to enjoy the rocky area full of fossils.
