In the middle of the state of Arizona, and using our need for gas as an excuse, we left the interstate 40 to delve fully into this town. We fully understood the "delicious decadence" of what was the legendary Route 66.
With my wife, we took a road trip in 2010 all the way from Michigan to Las Vagas and back. On the way back we stopped at a small abandoned petrol station which was surrounded by relics of Route 66's hayday, including this red rusting car from the 1930's.
