Bastion tower
This bastion tower was built during the reign of Manuel I (XV century) to defend the port of Viana, and is located at the mouth of the river Lima. Subsequently, it was found to be insufficient and was built around the Castle Fortress Santiago da Barra. The tower is late Gothic, rectangular and topped by battlements. It's been a watchtower, a jail and even a weather station.
