Majestic Roque Nublo

I have been lots of times in Gran Canaria, but this is the first time that we visit the inner part of the island. We went to the small town of San Nicolás and continued on the road of Las Presas. It was such a spectacle, with ravines crossing the interior part of the island.

You can spend an amazing day, reaching Mogán, seeing its small fishing port and taking its roads: you will feel as if you are somewhere in the northern part of the island, except for the vegetation.

When you get to Tejeda you will see its cross, its Parador Nacional (state owned hotel) which is beautiful and a detour that will take you to the Tamadaba park, full of pine trees and a lush vegetation.

The Roque of Gran Canaria

Excellent

Erected as the symbol of Gran Canaria, the Roque Nublo, located in the Nublo Rural Park, rises up to 1,800 meters above sea level as if it were the perfect guard of the island. Its privileged position, practically in the center of the island, gives us impressive views, if we dare to travel the route that separates the road from the base of the Roque.

It is a walk of about one hour and a half (both ways) that anyone can do and everyone will enjoy. We will contemplate mountains, peaks, valleys, towns. And if we are lucky, the Teide will be the witness of our path and we will be the witnesses

Roque Nublo

My experience starts when I parked my car in the new parking lot of La Degollada de la Goleta. After greeting the person in charge of the place, we started our walk along the path that takes you to the magnificent natural monument of Roque Nublo, La Rana (the frog) and El Fraile (the priest).

I recommend you take a backpack with water for the road, especially in the summertime, due to the strong sun. And you can also take a few sandwiches and eat them with your feet hanging over the precipice, a real luxury.

The walk is about 45 minutes long without going too fast or too slow. When we reached the final part of the journey we were stunned to see a stone of about 80 meters in altitude.

Breathtaking view

This 80meter rock formation rests at 1800m of elevation on the volcanic island of Gran Canaria. On clear days like this, it is possible to spot the Teide, Spain's largest mountain on the neighboring island of Tenerife. A breathtaking view.
