Romerijo Seafood Restaurant

Without a doubt, it’s one of my favorite places. When I go to Cadiz, I always go to Romerijo to eat their seafood. It’s located right in the Port of Saint Mary. It’s one of the places I recommend to people traveling to Cadiz, as it has a good price-quality relation.

You can get there, sit down, ask for a menu, there’s a large variety of seafood options to choose from at distinct prices. I think the best thing to do is find a table and then head over and select the type of seafood and amount (weight) you want. You can then enjoy some beers or a nice wine with the meal.

If you want to try to shrimp omelet, you should ask for them as a tapa (appetizer), ½ portion or portion.

The Romerijo del Puerto de Santa Maria seafood kitchen and restaurant is located on the main street, in front of the river. It’s one of the most typical in all of Spain.

You can directly buy a large variety of cooked seafood, by the pound, to bring home to eat, or to eat at the tables and terraces in the restaurant with a beer or a drink.

It’s one of the preferred places of the bikers during the days and nights of the Jerez GP, or even during the rest of the year when they come through the Port of Saint Mary.

Try the shrimp and sea nettle!

I like to eat the typical food from the area when I travel. El Romerijo what is in Cadiz and Sevilla is very traditional and local. You buy the seafood you want in front of the restaurant and then you sit at a table while they cook it for you. If you go to Andalucia, it’s a place you have to try.

I grew up in the port and I have to say… Romerijo is one of the places you have to eat at while in the area, the pescaito (fried fish), the seafood,… it’s the best!
