The Romans then reached Lugdunum, now called Lyon, Avignon and used as a great trade routes exchanger. In the past, they had found lots of elements of antiquity in the cellars of Vervins Hotel, next door. As you can see, the streets here are in a half circle, then some think there was the Roman amphitheater in the city and the streets around it were this way. But many places in the city you can find remains of Roman excavations and constructions. The square watch was for example the ancient Roman forum where you had the public baths of the city.

At the foot of the palace of the town, there are Roman ruins dating from the first century. Avignon was then a Roman city, which was part of the empire. The Romans are then mounted up to Lyon, Avignon and used as a major crossroads of trade routes. In the past, we have found many objects of antiquity in the hotel Vervins neighbor. As you can see, the streets here are in a semi-circle, and we think it was to tuck the Roman amphitheater in the city. But around town, there are the remains of Roman buildings. Place the clock for example, was the ancient Roman forum, with the public baths of the city.
