Art deco Indian house
Like many other towns in Catalonia, Canet de Mar benefited from the Indians, the Spanish enriched by colonisation especially after the loss of Cuba when they returned to their villages of origin and left visible testimony of their exuberant wealth in architectural heritage. This is an Indian house, built in the first decade of the twentieth century and, unlike most found in Canet, it is not in modernist style, but the art-deco style. Its typically white walls stand in stark contrast against the deep red of the roof. The architectural elements are simpler and in the modern style and avoid naturalism.
