By Car from Sofia to Rila
We started our journey toward the Rila Monastery at 17:30, and we had about 97.8 miles to cover. There's a lot of traffic on the first 22 kilometers of the trip, as you're going through all the suburbs of Sofia, cars, traffic lights, traffic jams and potholes. Then we got on the E79 a new highway for 14 kilometers. After we were still on the E79 motorway but not even he can be considered fast track for another 28 kilometers. We reached Rila around 19:10, after straying into Kocherinovo for a littl while. By the way, a subsection. Don't get off at this village, which is what makes access to secondary road to Rila.
We made our gps case we noted a detour a few miles before Kocherinovo and we did nothing but waste time, as we tried to cross the mountains and the road grew increasingly narrow, until in a village we tried meter by a goat track inaccessible. And he had marked to avoid unpaved roads in the GPS. So without this mishap we would have arrived fifteen minutes earlier. I put photos up of our road trip. Go check them out!
