Rivotte Tower

La tour bastionnée de Rivotte a été construite entre 1687 et 1690. Fondée sur le rocher, en lit de rivière et son fossé, situé en avant entre le Doubs et la colline de la citadelle. Elle possède une voûte annulaire sur un pilier central, contenant un puits. Ce puits permet de communiquer avec la plate-forme de l'étage, pour passer personnels et matériaux. Au 19e siècle, quand on couvre l'édifice, ce puits est ouvert afin de récupérer les eaux pluviales. Situé Faubourg rivotte cette tour est impressionnante dans le sens où on ne s'attend pas à la voir là. Au bord de la route sans trop d'indications, on est surpris de la voir là, sur notre passage...Mais ce monument historique est véritablement un petit bout d'histoire...
