Highly recommended
We arrived at the airport in Punta Cana in a small plane. The airport is very simple, with a roof made of palm leaves. The tour guide explained that the small wooden houses were typical Dominican buildings. It has eating areas, and is extremely comfortable, with flights arriving from the major cities of the world, especially Europe and America. We moved on to the Riu Palace Macao hotel, a 5-star resort with a three-storey colonial-style building on the beach of Arena Gorda.
It offers all kinds of amenities among towering palms, lush plants and flowers, and a splendid beach with white sands, and clear, warm, turquoise water.
The pool is a real beauty, with its water jets and bronze mermaids. Room service was excellent, and the room was spacious. You could have fit another bed in the huge bathroom! Breakfast is served in the dining room until 10 am, with a wide variety of food to suit all tastes. They have aqua gymnastics, a spa, a nightclub, a beach bar serving fresh fruit juices, dancing on the beach, a gym and a casino. There were several restaurants and bars, each with a different atmosphere. We stayed for a week in October, and would really recommend it.
