A beautiful river
The River Nith runs for nearly 114 kilometers through the valley of the same name, from Ayr to Solway. It is the seventh longest river in Scotland, and many historical settlements were built along its banks, especially because it teems with fish. The most spectacular settlement must be the city of Dumfries, which is literally split in two by the river, and was founded as it stands in a good spot for making a crossing.
