La catedral más antigua de Dinamarca
Kilómetros antes de llegar a la pequeña ciudad de Ribe, el viajero ya puede guiarse, a través de la llanura, por la torre de esta catedral.
La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora, nombre original del templo, se convirtió en la única con cinco naves, del país, después de sufrir numerosas modificación con el trascurrir de los siglos.
El edificio actual presenta una gran cantidad de estilos y detalles interesantes. Hay monumentos sepulcrales de algunos de los hombres más poderosos del país, así como el sepulcro más antiguo de Escandinavia, erigido por el rey Valdemar el Conquistador a uno de sus hijos.
El coro cuenta con una serie de coloridas pinturas y mosaicos de Carl Henning Pedersen (añadido entre 1982 y 1987).
La Borgertårnet (Torre de los plebeyos o Torre Cívica), que data del siglo 14, con 52 m de altura, funcionó como atalaya y torre de asalto. Ofrece impresionantes vistas de las marismas. Se accede desde el interior de la catedral (los menores de 14 años deben ir acompañados de un adulto).
La entrada a la catedral es gratuita, pero el acceso a la torre cuenta 10 DKK para adultos y 5 DKK para niños (hasta 12 años). Ofrecen visitas guiadas gratuitas para niños, y por 30 DKK para adultos.
Abren todos los domingos a partir de las 12:00, y el resto de días entre las 10:00/11:00 y las 16:00/17:30, en función de la época del año. Permanece cerrado al público durante los oficios religiosos y actos reservados.

It is accessed from inside the cathedral (those under 14 must be accompanied by an adult). The entrance to the cathedral is free, but access to the tower is 10 DKK for adults and 5 DKK for children (up to 12). They offer free tours for children, and 30 DKK for adults. Open every Sunday from 12:00, and on other days between 10:00 / 11:00 and 16:00 / 17:30, depending on the time of year. It is closed to the public during services and events reserved.
