Ribbon Lake

Ribbon Lake is a beautiful destination for a long single day hike or for an overnight backcountry camping trip. We chose to do it overnight, hiking in through Buller Pass and out through Ribbon Falls. Alternately, Ribbon Lake can be accessed as an extension of Ribbon Falls trail, but there is a cliff face to be scaled, so that deters a lot of people. If this is not your thing, come in through Buller Pass.

We arrived at Ribbon Lake around 3 in the afternoon on a Sunday in July of 2015, and we were pleasantly surprised to find the site relatively empty. There were a few other people ve arrived later in the evening, but we had most of the space to ourselves.
