Overlooking the river
When we visited Viana do Castelo we stayed in this hotel, it is very centrally located in the city center and overlooks the river. It is a modest hotel with only 20 rooms, ours was a triple and the furniture was quite spartan, 90's bed, a dresser, a TV that seemed to be taken from the series "Tell Me" which only showed Portuguese channels, a stool and a chair both leatherette, a closet, rather broad and finally curtains in fuchsia satin completed this totally kitsch style. The bathroom was also 60's style, in pink, but at least had a hairdryer and everything was super-clean, towels and bedding were changed daily.
Another thing I liked, was the wooden floors instead of unhygienic carpet, usually found in all hotels, and as I'm allergic to almost everything, I am horrified. When we booked through the website it said that there was parking but there wasn't, it was right across the parking lot, it required payment but it was local. The best thing, no doubt, were the views from the two balconies of the room - we watched the sunrise and sunset by the river, the bustle of people walking on the street, etc. As for breakfast, it was not bad, the small dining room had nine tables, which was where breakfast was served. A table had butter, jam, sugar, chocolate, etc., another had fruit, meats, yogurt, pastries, bread, etc., and another had coffee, tea, juice or milk. The location is strategic and the price is cheap. If I visit Viana again I will go back to this hotel, it is a joy to walk to all tourist attractions and especially the restaurants. After dinner we returned to hotel along a nice path.
