Virgin forests and unharmed lakes
This park is one of 35 that make up the network of national parks of Finland and was opened in 2003. It is southeast of the country, about 200 km northeast of Helsinki. It is accessible by private car or public transport to the city of Kouvola. It has an area of 15 km ², which will add another 14 km ² of protected forest adjacent to the park, thus forming between the two zones, an area of almost 30 km ² of virgin forests and unharmed lakes for which the hiker can move freely.
