Full of traditions and culture
Undoubtedly the most striking aspect of Sarajevo is their history and culture, had it not suffered a war it would probably be as interesting. It is impressive to soak up the remains of slaughter that still harbor in some corners, we live much more closely with the cruelty of war. However, Sarajevo is also a city that is full of traditions and culture. It is one of the few cities where you will find 4 totally opposite religions living in harmony - strolling through the streets you can find Catholic churches, Orthodox churches, mosques and synagogues. This gives the city a special charm and sense of respect.
It isn't strange to see a Jew in the street with his hat or a man who is robed - it is all accepted. The predominant religion is Islam. I recommend going to as many religious buildings as you can because it's the best way to perceive this environment. The only fault I can find is that in some mosques women can not access all areas, but otherwise there are no problems visiting places respectfully. In addition, many religious buildings host exhibitions of great interest, typically the city's past or its religion. Another interesting aspect is that Sarajevo is one of the cities where most Sephardic Jews currently live. Sephardic Jews are the Jews who were expelled from Spain in 1492 by Ferdinand and Isabella. When were expelled many went to Sarajevo and founded a colony, thus continuing a culture that is still present. It is very interesting because they have a language that is like old Spanish.
