Ranco Lake

A little more than 120 km from Valdivia we came across this square-shaped lake with several islands in it. Huapi Island (inhabited by Indians) stands out. On the road that borders the lake, there are many small resort towns, including Futrono, Llifén and Lago Ranco. There is a large tourist infrastructure in the area, visitors can go fishing and do all kinds of sports here. A good vantage point to look out over the lake is the Alfonso Brandt park, outside the town of Lago Ranco (gravel road but you don't need a 4x4).
