Yola
A Desert in Denmark
You really can't call this place a desert, but it is a huge sand dune, which was formed on the west coast in the 16th century, by the large amount of sand that "drifted" over there, which then began to dominate the landscape. Nearby, there's an area called "Raabjerg Stone," which is where you can see the mark left by the passage of the sand. The dune moves by the action of the winds, to the east, at a rate of about 10 to 15 meters per year. To get to the dune, you have to come down the highway (there is only one in the area), and take the Kandestedvej turn. After that, you're right there. however, above I've left you the GPS coordinates.
For now there's no public transportation, but you can arrange guided tours in the nearby towns. This is one of those places that really surprised us on our trip.
