Craft beer and homemade pates
Quirce is a small, casual bar on Calle Noviciado in Madrid’s hip up-and-coming Conde Duque neighborhood. In Conde Duque and the neighboring Malasaña area, there are new restaurants popping up every day, but what sets Quirce apart is its focus on craft drinks, artisan cheeses, and some seriously good homemade pates.
First, they have a small but loving selection of good Spanish wines, organic vermouths (a Madrid classic!) and craft beers like Barbiere, an incredibly tasty beer made locally in Toledo. While they usually give you a tasty tapa on the house, I’d suggest ordering one of their homemade pates. We got the “pate de perdiz” (quail pate) with toast points and homemade jams and it was heavenly. The pate was fatty, savory, and flavorful and matched perfectly with the bright, acidic marmalades. In short, it was wonderful. In fact, it has become one of our must-go places in the neighborhood for the pates alone!
