The sea looks like a swimming pool!

Punta Molentis, located in the area between Villasimius and Costa Rei, is one of my favorite beaches in Sardinia. The white-sand beach owes its name to the old Sardinian world "molenti" (mule) because the animals were once used in the ancient granite mines in the area.

The beach is part of the Protected Marine Area of Cape Carbonara and if you look behind you you'll see a hill with the ruins of a dolmen.

Between Villasimius and Costa Rei

To reach this lovely beach, you have to take the highway that goes from Costa Rei to Villasimius. It’s a natural white-sand beach with beautiful and clear water. There’s also a 100-meter tall cliff that runs along the entire coast. It’s the perfect place to go snorkeling or scuba diving given the clarity of the water. There are also some good seafood restaurants in the area.

A beautiful cove among the rocks

I’d highly suggest going to this beach. You can spend all day snorkeling and taking walks to find all sorts of hidden corners of the coastline. Or, just simply relax and enjoy the views of the beautiful cliffs.

We had lunch at the bar on the beach and afterwards we just sprawled out on our towels for a siesta in the ocean breeze. I really recommend it.
