The Puducherry Boardwalk
The Puducherry Boardwalk (formerly known as Pondicherry), known as Goubert Ave is 1.5 km long and runs along the beach. On this avenue there are hotels and restaurants. During the weekends it's lively because they put up many food stalls and souvenirs stall in the same area. The beach, as in most parts of India, isn't for bathing as mush as to walk, sit and drink with family and friends. From this walk we can see the lighthouse, built in 1836 and was in use until 1979. The walk ends there and there is a playground in which stands a statue of Dupleix, who was governor of Pondicherry between 1742 and 1754.
