Postern of Sant'Ambrogio

Nel 1939 volendo imitare una porta difensiva per la città di Milano Gino Chierici fece costruire la pusterla di Sant'Ambrogio utilizzando i mattoni della originaria cinta muraria e facendo una nicchia dove collocare i santi Ambrogio, Gervasio e Protasio. Questo tabernacolo era situato nell'ospedale di Sant'Ambrogio e risale al XIV sec. Collocata fra la torre medievale e la torre della tortura è stata da poco restaurata ed oggi gode di maggior prestigio popolare e legato ai pellegrini. Fino a pochi anni fa questo luogo ospitava una collezione assai particolare di oggetti della tortura, ovvero la mostra permanente di Criminologia e Armi antiche, ora in attesa di collocazione. Questa mostra aveva per oggetto le armi del periodo medievale e le macchine di tortura più inquietanti e drammaticamente utilizzate nel passato come la ghigliottina, la ruota, i dildi, lo schiacciapollici, la "vergine di ferro" o lo schiacciatesta.

In 1939, wanting to imitate a defensive gate to the city of Milan Gino Clerics of Saint Ambrose built the postern using the original brick walls and making a niche place where the Saints Ambrose, Gervasio and Protasio. This tabernacle was located in the hospital of St. Ambrose and dates back to the fourteenth century. Located between the medieval tower and the tower of torture has been recently restored and today enjoys the most prestigious and popular tied to the pilgrims. Until a few years ago this place was home to a collection of distinct objects of torture, or the permanent exhibition of Criminology and Ancient Weapons, now awaiting placement. This exhibition was devoted to the weapons of the medieval period and the machines of torture used most disturbing and dramatically in the past as the guillotine, the wheel, the dildos, the thumbscrews, the "iron maiden" or schiacciatesta.
