La Torre di San Niccolo es el último vestigio de las murallas originales de Florencia, y la única de sus torres defensivas que permanece en su estado original. La Porta San Niccolo est une grande tour de pierre située sur la place Giuseppe Poggi, près de l'Arno. Elle fut construite au 14ème siècle et fut une des rares à ne pas avoir besoin d'être rénovée comme elle était déjà protégée de par son environnement avec la colline de San Miniato juste à côté. Si vous prenez les escaliers près de la Tour vous arriverez tout en haut à la Piazzale Michelangelo. C'est un très bel édifice bien conservé.
