Ponto Cem Réis

Localizado no centro da cidade de João Pessoa serviu inicialmente como ponto para os bondes elétricos, que circulavam em frente à Igreja do Rosário dos Pretos. A praça passou por diversas intervenções urbanísticas ao longo dos anos. A primeira intervenção aconteceu no início da década de 1920, quando foi demolida a Igreja do Rosário Preto, templo barroco do século XVII, objetivando-se a modernização da área e melhor fluidez do trânsito de pedestres e automóveis no local. Em 1937, o palacete do Barão de Maraú foi transformado no Parahyba Palace Hotel, em estilo art-noveau, funcionando hoje como um shopping popular. Atualmente a praça recebe o nome de Praça Vidal de Negreiros, embora ainda seja conhecida pela população, como o eterno Ponto de Cem Réis. Muitos moradores desconhecem o nome atual. A última reforma foi realizada no ano de 2009, transformando a praça em uma imensa área plana, onde acontecem diversos shows durante as festas da cidade. Diariamente, serve de palco também para os artistas populares. A estátua da praça representa o cantor e compositor, Livardo Alves.

Located in the center of Joo Person initially served as a point for electric trams, which circulated in front of Black Rosary Church. The square underwent several urbansticas interventions over the years. The first intervention took place in the decade beginning 1920, when it was demolished the Church of the Rosary Black, baroque temple of the XVII century, is aiming to modernization of the area and better flow of pedestrians and automobiles to transit on site. In 1937, the palace Mara Baro was transformed into the Parahyba Palace Hotel in art-nouveau style, working today as a popular shopping. Currently the square is called Praa Vidal de Negreiros, although it is still known by the population, as the eternal point of Cem Ris. Many residents are unaware of the current name. The last reform was carried out in 2009, turning the square into a huge flat area, which hosts many concerts during the celebrations of the city. Daily, it serves as a stage also for popular artists. The statue of the square is the singer and songwriter, Livardo Alves.
