3 reviews of Pogradec

Albanian lakeside town

Pogradec is a holiday village mostly built on the shore of Lake Ohrid, on the Albanian side. We arrived from the capital, Tirana by minibus. It cost around 5 euro for the two of us, really cheap when you consider it was more than 3 hours away! The bus even stopped on the way so we could eat something. We arrived at night, the boardwalk near the lake was very lively, with people walking, a fair with games for children, a little further a nightclub, and a lot of hotels. On this side of Lake Ohrid it did not seem as nice as the Macedonian side, but the town itself is nice and the people are lovely.

The urban bus costs 20 LEK , and when you realise that 120 LEK is a euro, it's very cheap, like everything. You can eat a delicious Doner for less than one euro, but the hotels themselves are a little expensive. It is much more popular than Ohrid on the Macedonian side.
