La Plaza Petar Svačić se encuentra en el centro del casco histórico de la ciudad de Zagreb, Croacia. Fue nombrada en honor al Rey de Croacia Petar Svačić, quien es conocido entre la población local por haber logrado expulsar a los invasores húngaros del país, y unificar el país croata a ambos lados del Río Sava. Después de un corto reinado de apenas 3 años, el Rey Svačića murió en el año de 1097 y fue sucedido por el Rey Coloman, quien anteriormente había ya encabezado el reino de Hungría.
La plaza se encuentra justo en el centro histórico de la ciudad, por lo que puede ser fácilmente incluido en un recorrido por los principales atractivos turísticos. Si decides visitar Zagreb, seguramente pasarás más de alguna vez por el sitio y quizás incluso harás como los locales y te tomarás un momento para descansar en alguna de las bancas del lugar.
Quizás el atractivo más curioso del parque es la escultura creada por el artista yugoslavo Antun Augustinčić que se encuentra en el centro del parque, y es conocida por los locales como “el Manneken Pis” croata. Augustinčić esculpió también importantes monumentos que hoy en día pueden verse en plazas públicas de Serbia, Polonia y Croacia.
Petar Svačić Plaza is located in the center of the historic town of Zagreb, Croatia. It was named in honor of King Petar Svačić of Croatia, who is known among locals for having succeeded in expelling the Hungarian invaders in the country and unify the Croatian country on both sides of the River Sava. After a short reign of just 3 years, King Svacica died in 1097 and was succeeded by King Coloman, who previously had headed the kingdom of Hungary. The square is located right in the historic center of the city, so it can be easily included in a tour of the main tourist attractions. If you decide to visit Zagreb, you will spend more than ever on the site and maybe even do as the locals and you take a moment to rest in one of the seats in place. Perhaps the most curious attraction is the sculpture park created by the Yugoslav artist Antun Augustinčić located in the center of the park, and is known by locals as "Manneken Pis" Croatian. Augustinčić also sculpted important monuments that today can be seen in public places in Serbia, Poland and Croatia.
