Plaza Federico Moyúa (elliptical)

8 reviews of Plaza Federico Moyúa (elliptical)

A striking square

Federico Moya Square, popularly known as the Plaza Eliptica, is one of the most famous spots in Bilbao, next to Gran Via. The square has a large ornamental fountain in the centre, surrounded by benches and beautiful flowerbeds. There are three particularly interesting buildings on the square: the Carlton hotel building, the Chvarri Palace, seat of the Basque government Subdelegacin., and the striking subway station that, like the rest of the Bilbao Metro, was designed by Norman Foster (these stations are popularly called "fosteritos").
