Plaza de Vilna

Si bien Lituania y Georgia no son países precisamente cercanos, su historia en común y el hecho de que ambos se volvieron naciones independientes después de la disolución de la Unión Soviética ha creado una suerte de relación especial. Si visitas la capital lituana encontrarás decenas de restaurantes georgianos, mientras que en Tiblisi la “Plaza de Vilna” está dedicada a los habitantes de este país báltico. Si bien el sitio cuenta con algunos elementos interesantes traídos desde Lituania, quizás el principal motivo para visitar la Plaza de Vilna es que desde aquí parte el funicular que lleva hasta el Monte Mtatsminda y la Torre de Televisión de Tiblisi. Para llegar, lo más conveniente es utilizar el metro de la ciudad, aunque caminar desde el centro histórico no debería llevarte más de veinte minutos.

While Lithuania and Georgia are not closely related countries, their history in common and the fact that they both became independent nations after the dissolution of the Soviet Union has created a kind of special relationship. If you visit the Lithuanian capital you will find dozens of Georgian restaurants, while in Tiblisi the "Vilnius Square" is dedicated to the inhabitants of this Baltic country. While the site has some interesting elements brought from Lithuania, perhaps the main reason to visit the Vilnius Square is that from here the funicular leads to Mount Mtatsminda and the TV Tower of Tiblisi. To get there, it is best to use the metro in the city, although walking from the historic center should not take you more than twenty minutes.
