Houses an important collection of West African textiles collected systematically in the 1970s. In a 16-month trip from Lagos to Dakar, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, the then curator of the African Department, Renee böser-Sarivaxevanis, and the current curator, Bernhard Gardi, collected about 1,000 textile products.
