Place Saint-James

St. James's Place, located in the old town of Cahors, is a pleasant place to stop for a moment and enjoy the scent of the spices. This was once a marketplace for the most powerful merchants in Europe, who bought spices in the Middle East and sold them at this site before they were taken to England. Spices were extremely valuable for their flavouring and preserving abilities.
